Teh Tarik Session - the beginning

Like most working parents, Kamal's time was mostly tied-up on matters relating to his work, and being a business owner, this meant that Kamal was unable to spend even more time with his family compared to others, but there was very little that he could do to change this. Kamal's concern grew even more when he felt that he was slowly "losing control" over his children's educational well -being.

The fact that he was "clueless" over his own children's academic progress and his inability to supervise and monitor their schoolwork because of his work commitments, started Kamal's quest to search for alternatives. But Kamal also began to realise that he was not the only concerned parent who were faced with similar problems. Like him, he found that other parents too were shouldering similar concerns.

So when Kamal met up with his long time friend Jason for their usual "teh tarik" session in 1999, and started sharing his ideas, Jason was equally enthusiastic because as a parent, he too shared similar concerns over his children's academic progress and education.

Over time, the two friends' regular "teh tarik" outings became "brain storming" sessions that lasted into the wee hours of the morning. Both Kamal and Jason then started jotting down specifics to form a program where parents, like themselves, were able to monitor their children and provide guidance to a broader way of learning as well as studying.

The program that was to be developed has to be able to provide parents with the convenience to enable them to evaluate and be informed of their children's academic progress. A program that was, at the same time, able to help their children get prepared for examinations and achieve academic excellence. However, to share the benefits with the masses, Kamal and Jason both knew that the program has to be, not only comprehensive, but affordable as well.

What started as a casual discussion between two close friends had turned into an idea that eventually evolved into a business concept. Ideas that were initially scribbled at the back of tissue papers transformed into plans and strategies that became the blueprint for the development of Score-A Programme™.

From an intense thought, Score-A Programme™ has now turn into reality, and the rest, like they say…..is HISTORY.
